A contemporary series of original paintings by Heidi Lichterman inspired by nature and created in 2020-2021 during the lockdown for the COVID-19 pandemic.
“My paintings are about contrast: the assumed beauty of flowers on the mysterious, sometimes sinister, backgrounds; The dark contrasting sharply with the light; the hard edges contrasting with the translucency and soft contours of the petals; the over-large scale (all the flowers are painted on one metre square canvases). Although the flowers are recognisable, my emphasis is on their abstract qualities."
Artist Info: Heidi is an artist who creates textile wall hangings and wearable art in abstract patterns and also paints large acrylics inspired by nature, out of pleasure and for clients worldwide. Originally from the US, she now lives close to Cambridge, UK, in a tranquil, English village. When she is not weaving or painting in her studio, she loves to ride her horse.
Heidi has exhibited internationally and her work is in major corporate and public collections around the world, including Tokyo, Singapore, Djakarta, Hong Kong, throughout the USA, and many locations in England. She is a Fellow of the Society of Designer Craftsmen and was Chairman for two terms, and curated the society’s annual exhibition in London for twenty-one years.
